Lumi ID
Lumi, 2020
From 2018-2021, I worked on the content team as the web and visual designer at Lumi, focusing on the logged-out experience of the site. Lumi is a software that connects brands looking for packaging to packaging suppliers and experts all over the world.
My work at Lumi covered a lot of ground — our team was small (but mighty!) so I wore a lot of hats. My role was to make niche industry information more available and digestible, while staying true to the design guidelines we had developed over the years. This involved a range of skills, including research, information architecture, experience design, hiring and managing contractors, art direction, and web development, to name a few.
The goal
Create a marketing page and campaign for Lumi ID, a product that links physical packaging data to dynamic data about materials, disposal instructions, and a company’s sustainability mission.
The project
One of the campaigns that I worked on at Lumi was for Lumi ID, a consumer-facing product that we released in early 2020.
I designed the sample box (shown below) to highlight the QR code. We didn’t want the design to distract much from the QR code, so I kept it simple. I then populated the Lumi software with the box’s information — the material, dimensions, and other specifications — so that the QR code, when scanned, would show the correct disposal instructions.
The layout for the landing page mimicked that of our platform marketing pages, with the exception of the hero image at the top.
I directed (and hand modeled in) the photos of Lumi ID in action, and photoshopped the mobile experience into the final images.
